Duke Gunnell Wins the Mr. Bass of Arkansas
Tournament on Lake Ouachita
Duke Gunnell is congratulated by Ronnie Everett!!!
Records Fall on Lake Ouachita! Several Mr. Bass of Arkansas Records
fell at the first tournament of the year on Lake Ouachita. There were
103 boats, which eclipsed the old MBOA record by five, and the most
5 fish limits in the history of the circuit crossed the scales. To say the
least, this one was a slug fest!!! Duke Gunnell topped the field with a
5-fish limit weighing 19.81 pounds. Here's how the top 3 pro's caught
their fish:
1st - Duke Gunnell - 5 bass - 19.81 pounds - $2,780.00
Duke caught an early limit on a
Norman DLN crankbait, but later
switched to a jig. He was able
to cull up considerably with the
jig, as he caught the day's big
bass, a 7-pound "giant". Duke
also received the $500.00
Landers Bonus.

2nd - Carl Carpenter - 5 bass - 17.27 pounds - $1,680.00
Carl caught all of his fish on
a rattletrap. He commented
that he caught 9 keepers on
the day.

3rd - Lonnie Grim - 5 bass - 16.92 pounds - $1,380.00
Lonnie used a variety of
baits to catch his fish.
Rattletraps, Lucky Craft
Jerkbaits (Clown), and jigs
all put fish in the boat. Lonnie
caught 9 keepers on the day.
