Jamey Black Wins on Greers Ferry Lake!!!
Jamey Black topped 87 pro's fishing the third MBOA event of the
2009 season by catching 5 bass that 14.63 pounds. A brutal cold
front that packed 30 - 40 mph winds made fishing difficult to near
impossible on Greers, but the MBOA Anglers still brought plenty
of fish to the scales. Here's how the top 3 caught their fish:
1st - Jamey Black - 5 bass - 14.63 pounds - $2,450.00
Jamey's day was not without drama. His motor broke down on the
lower end of the lake in 6-foot rollers. He managed to make it to
bank and was brought in by another MBOA angler. He started his
day just north of the Narrows, where he landed a limit in
30-minutes on a variety of different baits (Wiggle Wart,
Carolina-rig, and Shakey head worm). He then made a quick stop
in the narrows, where he caught a big smallmouth. From there he
headed down the lake, where he flipped bushes with a
Texas-rigged Zoom Brushhog. The flipping technique resulted in
9 keeper largemouth.
2nd - Trip Vogel - 5 bass - 13.85 pounds - $1,407.00
Trip was not available for comment.
3rd - Steve Howard - 5 bass - 10.92 pounds - $1,091.00
Steve caught all of his fish
north of the narrows. He
threw a Carolina-rig,
a wiggle wart, and a
spinnerbait. He described
his pattern as "junk-fishing".
