Jamey Black wins Pro Division on Lake Ouachita

Jamey topped 73 other anglers by catching 15.34lbs. He earned $5000 for the event and has positioned himself for a great AOY race again this year where in 2018, he finished 2nd!

Jamey commented he only had one small spotted bass at 10:30am, so he made a move shallower and up in the water column where he ended up catching one of his fish on a DT6 crankbait in the red craw color and the rest on his Blacks Custom Lures Widow Make with 3.3″ Keitech swimbaits.

Huey Applegate gets second place at Lake Ouachita

Huey had a great event catching 15.22lbs. He earned $1500 for the event.

Huey commented he started deep and once the sun came out he moved shallow with a grass jig and caught a big one real quick which ended up messing up the next two hours for him as he couldn’t duplicate the bite. He went back deep with a football jib and caught fish the rest of the day culling up to the 15.22lbs. A great catch on a tough day.

Chris Darby gets 3rd place at Lake Ouachita

Chris Darby gets 3rd at MBOA #1 2019

Darby had shoes on in the 45* weather and was able to catch 14.70lbs. He earned $1100 for the event.

Chris commented starting off with an A-rig and catching a lot of fish but not a lot of size, so he switched to a deep spoon in 40′ of water and started upgrading his catch.

Duke Gunnell wins the Amateur division on Lake Ouachita

Duke Gunnell wins Am Division on Lake Ouachita 1-20-19

Duke topped 70 other Amateur anglers by catching 4 fish that weighed 11.68lbs and earned him $2500 for the event!

Duke fished with Flan Fife Sunday and commented he was an absolute fein on the front deck and he had to make as far casts as he could away from the boat to get bit behind him. He commented catching one on a crankbait and the other 3 swimming a football jib out in 40′ of water.

Bryson Kindy wins 2nd place on Lake Ouachita

Bryson Kindy wins 2nd in Amateur Division 1-20-19

Bryson is a high school angler from Benton, AR. He had a great event fishing behind Huey Applegate by catching 10.80lbs which earned him $1000 in his FIRST EVER Mr. Bass of Arkansas tournament!

He commented just fishing a jib all day and getting lucky to get 5 bites and get all 5 of them in behind Huey. He commented learning a lot and can’t wait for the next Mr. Bass event on Lake Hamilton.

Travis Hall gets 3rd place on Lake Ouachita

Travis Hall gets 3rd in Amateur Division 1-20-19

Travis fished with Josh Shirley and managed to scrape up a good bag on a touch day of fishing worth 8.82lbs. He earned a solid $700 on the day. We look forward to seeing Travis in the coming events because we’ve heard he can catch ’em in a mud puddle!
